Moons are rarely studied because people are more focused on space events and on finding new planets.
A moon is a natural satellite of a planet. Moons are amazing and have lots of abilities that are still relatively unknown by many.
Moons are rarely studied because people are more focused on space events and on finding new planets.
1. Astronauts Warmed The Moon
It was a time of extreme excitement and achievement in the world of science and technology when man finally stepped on the moon. In 1970, the first astronauts stepped on the moon and made history in the process. It is little known that when the astronauts left the moon, an increase in temperature was recorded.
After the first astronauts left the surface of the moon, a temperature of about 2 degrees Celsius was recorded. For decades, the increase in temperature was studied and its cause was being searched for.
2 years ago, results were released that showed that the first astronauts disturbed lunar dust and exposed the surface. These exposed surface took about half a decade to absorb solar radiation and cause an increase in the temperature of the moon.
2. Jupiter’s moon Deadly Spikes
Jupiter’s moon is also known as Europa. Europa has a saltwater ocean that is speculated to support life.
Europa’s saltwater ocean is different from the oceans on earth. It has large ice spikes which cover a portion of the surface of the ocean.
The sizes of the spikes may vary from the size of two adult humans to the size of complete buildings. It is still unexplained why the spikes are formed but they spikes sometimes get heated and evaporate into gas instead of melting.
3. Moondust
Visiting the moon requires a lot of preparation and caution due to the lack of oxygen supply and the pressure difference between the moon and the earth. However, one of the biggest dangers of visiting the moon is the moon dust.
Moondust, when inhaled, can cause a special type of fever known as “lunar hay fever. ” Moon dust are not similar to the dust on the earth, it is mostly sharp and made of meteorite pieces.
When a human inhales moon dust, it causes destruction of about 90 per cent of brain and lung tissue within a day.
